Preschool

We found a great preschool at a church five minutes from our house. Today was Jonathan's first day! It was a little sad to say good bye this morning. He was a little clingy too. We really fell in love with this preschool when we visited it last week. The hallway is brightly painted with Bible stories and Bible verses. The class rooms were cheerful and the teachers for his class were very warm and friendly. There are 10 boys in Jonathan's class! Can you imagine having all those boys for 3 hours? It makes me tired just to think about that! Music, artwork, numbers, letters and Bible stores are all part of their cirriculum. We knew Jonathan would have a great time. And he did! He was all smiles when I picked him up. He showed me how his hand got painted and pressed to paper to make a picture. He talked about the toys he played with and the boys. He seemed pretty happy with his morning. His teachers said he listened really well and played great with the other kids. He showed me his sticker that said Super Star Student. Oh, and he was enjoying a lolipop when I got there as well. He'll go from 9-12 Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are very happy with his first day and know that he will really grow a lot from being in preschool.
Speaking of the little man, he just got up and is calling me.

I keep putting off making dinner today. This post is my last official act of procrastinating! Lizzy began smiling two weeks ago, and I have tried my hardest to catch it on camera. She will be smiling and cooing, showing off her cute dimples, then turn stone serious whenever I get the camera out. She feels heavier and is getting cute pudges around her thighs and wrists. Jonathan has taken to biting her hands, so we have to watch him whenever he holds her. I'm not sure where this biting thing came from. He's never done it before.
Jonny and I are looking into preschool for Jonathan for 2 mornings a week now. I think he would really enjoy the interaction with the other kids a lot. He seems pretty bored at home. When the weather is so yucky, there are not many options for outings. We have visited 2 so far and will visit 3 more over the next few days. He seems excited at the prospect of new friends and school. We hope to make a decision by next week and have him start the first or second week of February. I feel a mixture of happiness that he is growing and is ready for a little independence from me, but also sadness that I'm not going to be his whole world anymore either. But I am in need of a little break as well, especially with Jonny's deployment looming ever closer, and all the additional work this places on me.
I must go make dinner. We're having baked ziti and a salad. Jonathan is awake from his nap and calling me. Oh, we have ordered a twin mattress and box spring for his room. He is going to be in a big boy's bed really soon! I'll post pictures when it arrives.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Life with two little ones is always an adventure. I really should be doing a hundred other things right now, since they both will be waking up in minutes. But I wanted to share a few pictures.
Lizzy is still her sweet, beautiful little self. She is just over nine pounds. Yesterday she turned three months old! She is smiling and cooing at us. When she smiles, she has two perfect dimples in her cheeks. Precious. I hope to get a smile captured in a picture soon. I never have the camera handy when she is smiling.
Jonathan and I forayed into potty training this week. Big disaster. He is not ready. He really was not showing any true signs of interest but I thought I’d try anyway. It lasted from yesterday morning until noon today. I tried to make it fun, to praise him just for sitting on the potty, to let him sample all the yummy candy he could eat when he went pee pee in his little potty. I encouraged him for going in his big boy underwear, and didn’t make a big deal of all the accidents. He, however, was just really frustrated with the whole thing. When he starting throwing tantrums each time I brought him in to sit on his little potty, I said that’s enough. He was SO HAPPY to see his diapers again. He’s back to his fun loving, charming self and has not mentioned potty or pee pee ever since! Poor guy.
Jonny is back in school. I got really spoiled the last 3 weeks with him being off. He was such a huge help to me and now I miss his helping hands. But, he has only 8 weeks to go and he will be officially finished with seminary!!!!!!!! After 3 years, we are both very thankful. Our next hurdle will be getting through his upcoming deployment.
I’ll try to be more regular with posting.
